George A Taylor III

Dr. George Andrew Taylor, III "Andy", 57, passed away on February 2, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a retired elementary school principal serving Orange County for over 30 years. In that time, he touched many lives. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Ellen and his sons, Jared and Justin, all of Deltona. He is also survived by his sister, Susan of Deltona and his brother, Steve of Richmond, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Orange City, or children's books may be donated to the Camelot Elementary School library in Orlando, FL. Ruth E Brooks

Ruth E. Brooks, 87, Passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2008. She was a long time resident of Casselberry. She was born in Cleveland, OH, August 4, 1921, the youngest of 6 children. She moved to South Florida where she later met and married Albert Brooks, moving to Casselberry in 1951. A generous and caring woman, Ruth was a friend to stray animals and was always available to help anyone in need. She was a free spirit and talented artist who enjoyed the company of her long time friends and family. Ruth was a lifelong homemaker and taught Sunday School to preschoolers for 40+ years at the Upsala Presbyterian Church in Sanford. One of her passions in life was collecting hippopotami and she amassed a collection of over 400. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Randi Brooks of Orlando, Lief Brooks of Tampa, her grandson Chaz Brooks of Dallas and neices Jackie Knowles, Bonnie Howard and nephews, Earle, John and Ron Howard, great-neices Laura Lee Knowles and Gregg Knowles. A Memorial Service will be held on December 14th at 2:00pm at the Upsala Presbyterian Church in Sanford. Olga Giovonetti Peters

Olga Giovonetti Peters, 94, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at Lake Mary Rehab and Nursing Home in Lake Mary, Florida.

She was born in Utica, NY on October 31, 1913, a daughter of Agostino and Adele Galli Giovonetti.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Peters and son, Joseph Peters Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Joan Peters Johnson of Columbia S. Carolina and son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Joanne Peters, Lake Mary, Florida, 4 grandsons, Donald Peters II, Winter Springs, FL, Jason Wright, West Hollywood, CA, Michael Peters, Daytona Beach, FL, Russell Johnson, Blythewood, SC, grandaughter, Sharon J. Byrd, Pawleys Island, SC and 5 great-grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held in the Chapel at Nativity Church, Longwood, FL at 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 31, 2008.  Burial Services will be private.

Allan Whiting

Allan Whiting, 64, of 5620 Finley Drive, Port Orange, Florida, who passed away at home August 31, 2008, was born in Brockton, Massachusetts and moved to this area in 2004 from Carver, Massachusetts.  Allan was a former Seafood clerk for Wood’s Seafood in Plymouth, Mass.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served in Europe, Asia and North Africa, as well as in the United States.  He was also a former on-call fire fighter and dog officer for the town of Carver.

Allan was a life member of VFW Post 7421, Carver, Mass and a member of American Legion Post 270 of Port Orange and enjoyed socializing with his many friends.

Mr. Whiting is survived by his wife, Adrienne (Holmes), his mother, Ruth E. (Chase) of El Cajon, California and sister, Lois Turner also of El Cajon. He is also survived by children Kristen M. Frazier of Duxbury, Mass., Denise (Hayes) Govoni and Tonya (Hayes) Andrews, both of Plymouth, Mass, Michael Hayes of Falmouth, Mass., Catherine (Ruccolo) Hughes of Mansfield, Mass. and Mary Ruccolo (deceased), and a grand-son Dylan Frazier.

Nellie Elizabeth Roberts

Nellie Elizabeth Roberts of Deltona, passed away August 30, 2008 at age 73.  She was born in Groveland, New York in 1934. Hazel King

Hazel S. King 81, of Ormond Beach, FL, passed away August 17th, 2008 at Oceanside Hospice.

She was born in Hanover County, VA and has lived in this area for many years. Mrs. King was a retired registered nurse and also worked in real estate.

Survivors include her loving daughter Brenda King of Ormond Beach, two sisters, Margaret Adamson (husband Henry Adamson) of Jupiter, FL, Virginia Parry of Greensboro, NC, several loving nieces and nephews, and good friend Dr. Carl Thornblad also of Ormond Beach.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Commander Alfred E King, USN.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oceanside Hospice, Ormond Beach.

Davidson, Andrew "Andy"

On March 3, 2009 Andrew “Andy” Davidson, 84, of Oak Hill, Florida, passed peacefully. Andy served in the US Air Force during WWII and also served our Country in Civil Service with the U.S. Government. Born in Mississippi, Andy came to Florida in 1975 from Waterloo, NY. Preceded in death by his wife, Andy is survived by his daughter Cynthia M Hildebrand of Oak Hill, his sons Walter W. Davidson of Waterloo, NY and Andrew B. Davidson III of Rochester, NY as well as two grandchildren.
Andy touched and befriended many people during his very active life. He enjoyed coaching, and officiated High School sports for 26 years. He relaxed traveling and camping. Andy was a past Commander of the American Legion Post 17, member of the Loyal Order of Moose #1835, B.P.O.E. #2723 Edgewater, Eagles, Edgewater and the Dolphin club also in Edgewater. Dearly loved, Andy will be fondly remembered. A memorial service is planned at the Americal Legion in Edgewater on March 28, 2009 at 11:00am

Rose, Rosalind

Rosalind B. Rose, 84 of Daytona Beach peacefully passed away March 3, 2009.  Formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, Rosalind was a retired hairdresser.

Rosalind is survived by her husband Francis, daughter Patricia (Herman) and son Scott (Lori).  Rosalind was grandmother to William C Hall Jr. and Kristin Hall, Justin, Jordon and Alexander Rose, Lee (Idyanna) Clark, and great-grandmother to Leyanna Clark, Jacksin and Madisin Lalancette.

Rosalind was “Mama” to many employees of the Manor on the Green Nursing Home for the last eight years and had many friends there.  The family is very thankful  to all at Manor on the Green for the comfort, care and friendship.

The family also thanks Florida Hospital Hospice employees for the care they gave to Rosalind as her time drew near. 

A private family gathering is planned for later in the summer.

Hope Esther June Larsen Marion

Born October 25, 1940 in Los Angeles, California to Rachel and Leonard Larson. She went to be with our Lord as a result of a long illness on April 8, 2009. Hope was married and raised three children. She also ran a contract post office in Salt Springs, Florida and had a Florida Realty license. She lived in Ohio and West Virginia while raising her family. Her hobbies were gardening, camping, mahjong, horses, dogs cats and she loved the holidays. Hope is survived by her husband of 50 years Richard, her sister Lorraine Gordon, son Richard Marion Jr. (Colleen) of Deltona FL, son Scott Marion (Connie) of Parkersburg, WV, daughter Vickki Yudt (Michael) of Pennsboro, WV, and six grandchildren Tyler Marion, Matthew Marion, Francis (Frankie) Marion, Brittany Hitchcock, Alyssa Yudt, Abigail (Abby) Marion. There will be a memorial service at a later date.

Roger Douglas Hollen

Roger Douglas Hollen, 50, of Fruitland Park, FL, peacefully went to be with The Lord on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, while surrounded by his loving family at his home of 26 years in Fruitland Park. Roger was born on October 5, 1958. He was preceded in death by his father, Shilo Hollen. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Denise; their two amazing sons Clayton Hollen and Cody Hollen; mother, Julia Anderson (Edward); brother, Jerry Hollen (Candy); sisters, Ann Miller (Norman), Sharon Graham (Reggie) and Cindy Inlow (Marion); aunt, Rosie Lawhorn (Ron) along with many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins who loved Roger very much. A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, April 21 at Shiloh Cemetery in Fruitland Park at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Cornerstone Hospice of Lake County.

A memorial service will be held for Betty Allen who went home to be with the Lord on April 15, 2009. The service will be held at the Aloma Baptist Church on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 1:00 pm with Revs Marshall Collins and Steve Parker officiating. Betty was a member of the Aloma Baptist Church and enjoyed golfing. Born in Fairfax County, Virginia, Betty moved to Central Florida in 1999.
