Paul Edward Stroessner of Deltona, FL., passed away at home on June 3, 2021 at the age of 74.
Born on September 2, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY to Cecelia (Tierney) and Vincent Stroessner, Paul was loved by every person (and dog) who met him.
Paul graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas in Brooklyn. He volunteered to enter the United States Army and served in Vietnam with Company A, 2nd Battalion, 7th Calvary Regimen, 1st Calvary Division from 1966-1967 and Fort Dix 1967-1968. For his bravery, Paul was awarded the Bronze Star of Valor and a Purple Heart.
Thanks to his sister Clare (Brissette) introducing him to Janice Bourgeois, Paul and Janice fell in love and were married on Valentine’s Day in 1970, and were married for 51 years.
Settling down in Providence, RI, then Warwick, RI, Paul worked for New England Telephone from 1970-1991. He then graduated from Sawyer School as a Medical Assistant, and worked as a Medical Assistant from 1994-1996. Paul also coached baseball at West Side Little league in Warwick, RI.
Upon retirement, Paul and Janice moved to Deltona, FL. Paul was an extremely talented artist. He also thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and military brothers and sisters. Paul was also a lifetime member of the First Cav. Division Association.
Paul was predeceased by his parents Vincent and Cecelia (Tierney) Stroessner, and siblings Vincent, Anne (McDonald), and Clare (Brissette).
He is survived, and will forever be remembered by his wife Janice Stroessner of Deltona, FL, his children Paul Stroessner Jr. of Portsmouth, RI, Tracy Stroessner (Whalen) of Mansfield, MA, and Eric and his wife Lisa (Vincent) of North Kingstown, RI, his grandchildren Matthew Whalen and Megan Whalen, as well as his brother Walter of Parker, CO, and many nieces and nephews.
